Let's try to confirm this retreat. If you didn't see the news, here are the basic details:
Where? Ladera (hopefully, room 1601)
Date? Saturday, 16 August 2003
Time? tentative assembly time: 3:30pm

Simbosen Iron Chef re-match
- bring your secret ingredients
Anime marathon
This is just a tentative schedule. Will further discuss this during practice / mass. It's best to do the retreat at night (or at least dusk), having the opening prayer start at 5:00pm or 5:30pm. We don't wanna go too far into the evening with the retreat portion. If we can start at 3:30, that'll be even better, but the whole candle thing won't have the best effect (that's the only problem, but that can easily be fixed by drawing the blinds).
We need your input. It's coming sooner than you think. If you have work, try to get that day off or fix up your schedule to whatever works best.
What time do you guys wanna start the retreat? That's the most important part of the fellowship, as a way to launch the new official MOS slogan "Let the Spirit take over." So everyone HAS TO BE PRESENT AT THE RETREAT.
Let us know what time is best to start the retreat for everyone. Fix your schedules, take the day off, don't make any plans.
Post post post, or let us know during practice.

The hike's not gonna be too hard I think. I'm thinking Tarzan Falls. I went there for Bio and it was pretty easy and the top of the falls was nice. We don't have to go all the way down. But going back up the trail is hard cuz it goes uphill. We'll have to go on a sunny day. If it's rainy, or looks like rain, we can't go cuz the river will swell and we won't make it back....

Where? -- Jonathan Guerrero's house (those of you who don't know where that is, let us know and we'll give you a map)

Exchange GiftThose of you who have not picked a name yet, come to practice. And if anyone out there picked 2 names by accident, return one - we're uneven.
Wish Lists are posted in the wish list board. Review them or post your own.
When it comes to the actual exchanging of gifts, this is what will happen:
1. you will come up and get the present you are giving to your exchange gift person
2. before you give it, don't say who it is -- you have to say 3 positive things about your person before you say who it is
3. after you have said your positive things, give your gift to that person
4. the person who received the gift will then come up and repeat the cycle with his/her exchange gift
Cool? Yes. Nowadays, it is VERY hard to find nice things to say about each other. This is a great season to start!

i thought we could use some of these games or think about them at least.
*this one is like the one in whose line is it anyways. There are two people. the first person asks a question, the seconed one answers with another question, and the first answers with another question and so forth...if either of them say um..or thinks too long to reply..its over the other person wins and the next person in line challenges that person...same thing over again until there's only one left...
*get toilet tissue..a lot..one person that is in a group has to be the statue. each groups gets a roll. The object of the game is to cover this person up COMPLETELY! (head to toe). they have to do it in a matter of lets say...when they finish..umm..then they have to hop to a certain point (you name it) and get out of it as quickly as possible. we can recycle the tissue if there are any liquidy mess we need to clean up. :)
*do imitations of a certain person in the choir (pick a name out of a hat)...i wanna do it again..its pretty funny. (i wanna pick valerie...oh...but she's not here..is she?)

If you are in a certain section and are just singing another section's part, ask someone so you can get it right. You are not put into sections according to the people you hang out with. So ask for the part to be repeated until you get it right. Don't take the easy way out. You won't get anywhere that way.

I went to the back to pick mangoes yesterday, and there are 2 cute little puppies in the cage!!! Really cute! They're like toddlers. They can walk already. And they're really friendly too. They came to me and let me pet them. Well, one of them anyway. They could've switched. I don't know. They look the same. REALLY CUTE FACES!!! AAAHHHH! I wanna play!

I didn't wanna post anything about this because you all might just think I'm being bitchy again. But then I figured, what the hell do I care what you think? If you can be a bitch, I can be one too.
Okay, this has happened a lot in the past, and it has dwindled since then, but now it seems to have returned and I wish it hadn't. I've been noticing the sudden surge of...I don't even know what you call it.
There has always been some "competition" if you will, in the choir among sections and what not. When one section gets their part down quickly with no problem, and another section doesn't, automatically it's "Ha, see the bass are better than you! We're good!" (Just as an example.) "It's always the tenors" or "It's always the altos," and I admit, a lot of times it's like that. Some people just need more help than others. But I never liked that whole "we're better than you" talk. If you're sitting there thinking, "Who do you think you are," who the hell do you think you are? Funny ha ha, to an extent, but that just makes me want to get up and leave and say, "To hell with you." Or, "Shut up, you have problems too." Maybe that's just me, but I'm giving you my perspective, so write your own post. I know it's cool when you get your part down like nothing. Kudos for you. But we're not all "great and wonderful", so we have to work on it. Everybody does. That's why we're there - to practice. And I know, sometimes it's good to have a little friendly competition so people will try to work harder or something, but sometimes it's not at all friendly, and people can also turn the other way and say, "Forget you" OR it can be so competitive that everyone just ends up shouting and "blaring". Who likes it when people get obnoxious and think they're right all the time when you know and they know they're not? To avoid any confusion, I say, the other alternative is to be supportive. Encourage. It could help a lot. "You can do it." And you can. We're all diverse people and sometimes we can get a little difficult and need to be put in our place, but if we're all here for the same reason...
