Subject: "Ugly Cat" 1987-June 12, 2001

We lost our beloved ranch cat, "Ugly Cat", last night, killed by a pack of coyotes trying to get in the chicken coop. He held the pack at bay until I could get a shotgun, he was chewed up pretty bad. The vets operated on him for over three hours but could not save him. He was one of the best ranch cats we have ever had. All the dogs in the area was scared of him, he never loss a fight with a dog, but then again he weighed almost thiry-five pounds. Back in 1993, he saved a four year old girl from falling into a well by grabbing her by the pants leg, pulling her to safety! Once saw "Ugly Cat" put a baby bird, that had fallen out of a nest, back into the nest high up in a tree! He once was a honorable member of the Boerne, Texas Police Department for helping track down a bank robber. They wanted to enlist him into the Department full time, but I said "NO". He was a ranch cat, not a police cat corp type cat! Last year, he killed a rattle snake that had gotten into one of the horse pens. He was a many times over HERO! I am getting choked up writing about him, will miss him, but have another cat "Bad Cat" that is in training and will probably make an excellent replacement. "Bad Cat" has his work cut out for him. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)
