This is correct. Pumping the coil up and down while listening to the threshold is for MANUAL ground balance as in Fisher and several Tesoro models and the Classic IDX after it has been modified. If you do not get the final beep your SIG BALANCE may be set too high, back it down a bit and go thru the procedure again. The 6000 has automatic ground balance, don't know how often it samples the ground and makes adjustments but it is the best on the market. Note the XLT and DFX use the AGB. A slight threshold gain as you near the ground from about 4 in. is "positive ground balance". Most of the older detectorist run with a little positive GB. GL
