Received my renewal for season tickets and like last year "due to the construction of the parking garage, parking for the 2005 season will be extremely limited" (according to the accompanying letter from Ticket Operations). Is this accurate, I had thought it was once again deferred? Hopefully, I am wrong and they did not just change the date and copy last year's letter.

Did they provide any details on how that limited parking will be allocated? I would hope it goes to members of the Maroon and Gridiron Clubs, season ticket holders, player parents, etc. instead of on a first-come basis. Also, I'm assuming (because I think I read it somewhere) that they will be working with the Gardens to use their parking facilities on game days. If not, I hope they start working on this ASAP. Letter is basically same gibberish as last year i.e., encouraging people to take mass transmit with no mention of any attempt to procure additional parking. Zero effort in the letter to actually encourage people to attend, Letter says parking passes available (for $35) on a first come basis. No mention if you need a pass to park on campus. Yet another blunder by the AD. By advertising that limited parking is available on a first-come basis, they are inviting frustration for all but the earliest birds. Most importantly the big donors in the Maroon and Gridiron Clubs, who should be explicity given first shot at most of these spots as a reward for their generosity, will instead be treated the same as those who haven't given a dime. In case anyone in the AD wants to see an extreme example of how to do this the right way, head up to Boston College. All students have to move their cars off campus the night before. Game day parking/tailgating on campus is by permit only, and permits are issued only to those who have given at least X number of dollars in the past year or two. Last time I heard, X was $5,000 but I think it was increased recently. Regular shuttle bus service runs between the campus and the T stations and parking lots in nearby areas. The BC post was more of a long-range suggestion. Note that I've always felt and advocated for Fordham to buy up properties to accomodate future expansion, provide income, and provide overflow parking for large events (football games, commencement, orientation, concerts, etc.). It wasn't meant to be a short-term fix but perhaps FU should consider it. As for where those student cars would go, I'll let others work that out. What is the "garage project" going to do to change the current situation? Is a multi-level facility in the works? Does this mean the long hoped for situation of having the baseball field on one of the current lots and the other lot being a multi-level may finally be possible? I dont believe we were criticizing the change but rather the way change was managed, or more specifically, not managed. The new parking & field are necessary changes. That said, why not try to arrange temporary parking i.e., zoo, gardens, Metro No. Gardens Lot etc. If these avenues were tried without success, then say so in the mailing. I would not be terribly surprised come home games in the fall the visiting team's fan would have access to more accurate and timely parking information. Rest easy, it still won't do them much good, as the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry when Fordham security/food service/athletics et al are involved. PA RAM, garage project has been in the planning process for a number years. Will be in H lot. Will be a 5 level facility for at least 1250 cars (per my last read).
