In reply to: Ayla 's message, "*She smiles excitedly*" on 13:53:03 05/25/01 Fri

"First you will need to get the hang of firing from an akward and unsteady angle without hurting your horse. When we finally move on to a real horse, we will use blunt ended arrows for safety until you have it down perfectly"

She gets onto a barrel herself, facing Ayla and picks up the bow. She pivots at her waist, keeping her legs even and secure, then takes an arrow from her quiver and nocks it quickly, without any akward movements, then aims and fires twoard the target. She turns back to Ayla and motions for her to try, speaking as she does so.

"This is just the first step in mounted work. You must be a very good horsewoman, and you should learn to work on a moving horse. Ideally you would shoot only from a stand-still, but wars are rarely ideal and it is best to learn in all conditions. Of course, it is best if you know your steed well and he is trained for it. They should be used to the movement of the bow, the flying arrow and should be able to be directed with only your seat and leg"
