He was a little wide around the waste for starters, while some of the supernatural tales he tells in autobiography of a yogi seem a just a bit far fetched, the interpretation of Hebrew and Christian scripture is not aligned with the "Pauline" understanding of it.
In any event thats just my basic observation, and I'm certainly not condemning the good and holy man. As I said early on He's like my mother in regrds to opening up the world of Hinduism for me, and I love the man's memory dearly but I wont idolize him like I see so many others do with him and others of like reputation and thus becoming overly dependent, needy and blinded by such a form of unhealthy devotion that goes way beyond just simple respect and endearment, which would be consider normal, in my perspective and many others I'm sure.
And maybe this Author below can probably explain the situation better than I, for I would certainly hope so.

"This booklet is a good reminder to us, so that we always strive in the right direction. Practice is the only way. Even though faith and devotion to one's teacher can be a positive thing, we must always remember that "an excessive faith is accompanied by corresponding deficiency of wisdom".
