It's not your stupidity (if you have any), but that of the program. See, Direct Connect is absurdly paranoid about getting sued, so there is no central list of files. Rather, you must request a connection to a person whose files you want to see. Since most people have only two or three connections, which are always occupied by people downloading 500 Meg files, you will NEVER be able to even browse their lists. I wasted four hours trying various channels (including Anime Gods) and didn't see a single Trasformers reference. In fact, all the anime I saw was .RM format. DivX channels are restricted to enourmous shares (>8 Gigs) or contain no DivX movies. Searching is broken. Out of ~200 searches I ran on twenty hubs, I got two results, both wrong. I assume search requires downloading file lists, which as I said is mostly impossible.

So, in conclusion DirectConnect is broken. Sorry. Go elsewhere and find another FTP. If all you want is Transformers episodes, try tfarchive.com and be patient. Any of the more obscure stuff, good luck. IRC might help if you're willing to run an FTP for them (who downloads from these FTPs? The only people who know about them are the ones on IRC who are required to have one themselves).

Wow, that turned into a rant pretty quickly. Sorry.
