they are..... Verdandi's chosen. they all ended up where they are by some twist of fate, and then Treyvan went out and gathered them. how best to explain this....

Maiko was always rather, well, disobediant to the law. a very high offense in the Elf kingdom. when the stone in Valeron ruptured, the shards stayed hidden for quite a while. he happened to be walking past the warehouse where it had been with some of his friends when some moron inside dropped a lit cigar near gun powder. the shard got blown into him in the explosion, and Treyvan grabbed him away from there before anybody could ask any questions. Kaeyana's father broke the stone that she got- he would have killed her, and i think she knew that.... she ended up killing him after he, quite litterally, stabbed the shard into her body.

Kibelle i already explained, so.... Morgan, a faerie girl. she got hers when the first Goddess died. the stone broke during her funeral, when a drunk tipped its stand over. Morgan had been of high noble birth, and so was near the front. the shards hit her and Treyvan came for her. Jaysen, a Demon, got his from Po-Chan. Po had been given the stone by Verdandi herself, and rather than taking it for himself, he broke it and stabbed Jaysen in the back of the neck with it. just a note, that was before Luce and Po were the same person.

Kaia got the one from Ephsidel. it ruptured when the dark god went on its killing spree. hit her right before she went through the warp.
anyways, to answer your question more accurately..... they are Verdandi's chosen who more or less make sure that nothing happens to Treyvan. with the other three Guardians dead, she has nobody left. i suppose that its worth telling you this, but she is planning to sort of 'create' more guardians from people that are alive now. going to revive the other three as well. there will be a total of eight of them. sixteen Eyerlings as well, as soon as she drops more stones into this world. i heard a rumor that she wanted to put one here in my temple.

i wouldnt normally tell people this, but i figure.... its not like saying it will stop it from happening. She already knew that i would tell you. She has yet to tell me who She is going to choose as the Eyerling, though. Treyvan thinks he knows, but likewise- he wont say anything. Khrys, Yumi, and Kioku are all headed back to the Eyer now. they finally got out of the Broken Towers, which is good.... they will be alive again within the year when the next Guardian is born.

i know who the next guardian is going to be, true enough, but.... well, i know who ALL of them are going to be--- that dosnt change anything. all of them are direct or nearly direct descendants of Life and Death themselves. its quite sad, really.
