It's quite simple, really.

We are ALL sent out with the knowledge of what we are meant to accomplish.

Moon Children appear in pairs, gold and silver, and are meant to accomplish a task on their own.

Sun Children appear indivisually, bronze, and are meant to manipulate the mortals around them into accomplishing a task.

Earth Children also appear individually, pure white, and are meant toaccomplish something over long time frames.

There are also things called Lunisolars, physical representations of all the heavens and hells as well as everything in between. They will only appear in the final Time of existance, before Verdandi destroys the universe for the very last time. We think that these have been appearing recently, which is probably what spawned the Powers to appear alongside the Mystics and Eidolons.
