I was finially baptized at 17 and a junior in high school.My parish was strict and required the all white,infant type outfits for all girls 17 and under for baptism.The boys were required to wear suits and a tie and our outfits consisted of a white,short sleeve,knee length,infant style baptism gown with the matching bonnet,white undershirt,cloth diaper,rubberpants[plastic pants,adult size]white tights and white mary jane style shoes.Since the parish required the outfits,they could be ordered thru the Baptism directors office,so that is what my parents did.One package of cloth diapers had to be sewn together to make one diaper out of them and it had to be pinned on us with diaper pins and our rubberpants had to fit loose over the diaper.Our white tights had to completely cover the diaper and rubberpants and our undershirt was tucked in to the waist of the tights.I was the oldest girl at 17,and the rest of the teens were in the 14 to 16 year old range.I felt quite weird being 17 and dressed as a baby for my baptism!
