I was in recon. 1st. 35th. inf. 25th. Inf. div. in 1965-1966 Vietnam. That is really the first L.R.R.P. outfit, alonge with recon 2nd. of the 35th. 230 days of continous operations.I was wounded in the eyes on the first of dec. 1966 and med. evacted out. You can count the people left alive out of this 60 man platoon on one hand.I was lucky, I had 7 days left with orders in my pocket.I spent 5 mo. in the hospital,in & out for the next year.Got out of the army, went in the navy.7 yrs. in the navy the shrapnel got infected & I spent a year in walter reed and lost vision in my right eye.The navy retired me on a medic al discharge. I am retired from a combat wound and I dont get combat related compensation.WHY DOES SOMEONE EXPOSED TO AGENT ORANGE WITH 20 YRS. IN GET COMBAT RELATED COMPENSATION & me with over 10yrs. in service(reenlisted in the navy twice)going for 20 PUT OUT ON A MEDICAL RETIREMENT FOR COMBAT WOUNDS CAN,T GET COMBAT RELATED PAY.No one in this 60 man platoon was able to serve 20yrs.Oh I was also exposed to agent orange.(sprayed with it.)

Oscar
