Hi Caitlin,
Synodontis Obesus is one of the so called upside down catfish and comes from West Africa. This is considered a tropical freswater fish and requires the water temperature to be 24 - 28°C. Water pH should be neutral.
I would say that your fish is pretty much fully grown at 14.6"
Regards
Martin.

Caitlin,

Martin is correct when saying your fish is about fully grown. The description of the species Synodontis obesus (Bougenger 1896) gives the total length of 375mm for the largest specimen.

These fish come from the Gabon, Ghana and Cameron.

Good luck with your fish, let us know how it settles in.

Regards
Steve

Caitlin,
Realy sorry to hear that. Have you any idea what could have caused this. Did you move it to a brand new setup etc?
