Author: Slerin::Chocolate/Silver Chirr
Subject: ...

The Chirr starts to quiet, his eyes drooping shut, the bright silver orbs disappearing from sight. "Tired little one?" Slerin murmurs the question, seating himself with the Chirr near him. The young Niyia drapes his head on the Qyne's knee, angling it correctly to be comfortably scratched. Seeing the dark Chirr's meaning, Slerin obligingly scratches his head, happy to note that a low purr rumbles in his throat. Blue-green eyes rest adoringly on the dark-brown head, even as his hand works at the lush fur. The movement and the quiet rumble of the Chirr's pleasure draw him into a trance, slowly...A waking dream this vision, half-dead memory from his past.
......The hills were blooming with wildflowers, but the village was gone. Smoldering remains of black and gray buildings are the only trace of the once propsperous trading town.
"All this was once our life. And now there is nothing."
He shook his head in disbelief, chestnut strands of hair whiping in the slight wind. "There's nothing left?" His hihg-pitched child's voice expressed innocence that no one had any right to possess.
His father laughed harshly. "Nothing. It's all gone, destroyed." He turned on the youngster. "You understand? It's gone. Just half-broken memories and charred wooden furniture." An expression of smug superiority crossed the adult's face. "I told them wood was stupid! But did they listen? Oh no..."
Slerin stood still, gazing with wide blue eyes at his father. "And mother? Where is mother? Is this why she hasn't come back?"
Allhahn shrugged. "Erzsbet was dead a long time ago child. She'd left us a long time before this." And the flowers were blooming on the hills.

As quickly as it had come it left him, leaving it's mark in vague traces of gray and red. Though the bitter taste didn't leave his mouth, nor the smell of smoke from green wood. The mildflowers perfume didn't mask the scent, nothing could, nothing ever would. Utterly barren. There was no life there, even the wild-flowers were dead. Those hills could not support life for longer than they had...Barren. A shudder passes through him at the complete abscense of life from that place. His friend sense the Qyne's discomfort, looking up curiously. Realizing that the Chirr probably wishes to be stroked some more, he resumes the job he'd volunteered for.
