Subject: Cintas Center

I'm a Providence College fan, a school that greatly parallels XU in size of student body, campus size, location in a residential area, etc., and as part of an ongoing discussion on an on-campus arena, obviously XU came up as a model with your Cintas Center.

Part of the Providence problem in erecting an on-campus arena is that local opposition is assured, partly from the surrounding neighbors because of the expected impact of parking and traffic on residents...and partly because Providence would no longer fill dates at the City owned Civic Center.

What was the extent of local opposition to the Cintas Center, if any? Was the opposition easily resolved or did it take a long time with major concessions to resolve?

Thanks for the input.
