Hattie is excited,"Sure! I'll teach her some basic English!" Hattie then motions Mari to follow her up to the hay loft and to sit on a hay bale. They wave goodbye to Mari's dad. Hattie uses her hands as she talks, a book called Black Beauty in her hand, along with a quill, bottle of ink,and a notebook.

"Repeat after me," says Hattie trying her best to motion out what she says and to write pictures. "I," she draws an eyeball on the notebook......{i'll try and type what she writes}

"I LOVE HORSES." Hattie shows Mari the paper, then sounds the words out for her. She also teaches Mari the English alphabet and writes it our on a piece of paper.

"A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z these.are. the. capital.letters. and.these.are.the.lower.case. letters. a-b-c-d-e-f-g-h-i-j-k-l-m-n-o-p-q-r-s-t-u-v-w-x-y-z."
