Lois, can you clue me in on what you find to be important on p4?

All I see is a conventional argument between a liberal and a Christian. The liberal is denigrating the scriptures, 2,000 years of Christian orthodoxy, and 18 years of Restoration doctrine. The Christian is defending plain old generic Christianity by explaining it "for dummies." There is nothing unusual about this. Virtually every discussion between atheists and believers, liberals and Christians, evolutionists and creationists, abortionists and prolifers goes something just like that.

But a liberal saying the scripture is little better than bathroom tissue as far as spiritual guidance is concerned, or a Christian taking issue with that statement is too common to raise eyebrows. As John Hamilton (as Perry White)said, "When dog bites man, that's not news! When man bites dog, that's news."

When an apostate disses the Bible and says that he has his own private hotline to a Jesus who contradicts the Jesus of the Bible, that's not news. In the Community of Christ hierarchy alone, there are about fifteen of them.
