Lois, nothing about the CofC is honest. Richard Price was told that he was printing falsehoods about the church and that he would be defrocked (I don't say "silenced" because it upsets the FBI) if he didn't retract these falsehoods. Price asked the Stake President to identify the falsehoods so that he would be able to retract it. Despite all the supposed falsehoods that the Stake President alleged, he could only name one -- that Price had falsely printed that the leadership intended to take the church into the NCC. The stake president emphatically declared that this was NOT true. And so Price was defrocked, and later excommunicated for telling the truth.

That's one of the reasons that I withdrew my membership. After all, if they are going to throw you out for speaking your mind and for calling them on their lies, you might as well do that first and get it out of the way. Or, better yet, never attend, and never join.
