*Okay, so I just happened to ask Dr. C about science seminar this morning. The topic is conservation biology. The books are (1) Silent Spring by Rachel Carson (#0395683297) and (2) The World According To Pimm: A Scientist Audits the Earth by Stuart L. Pimm (#0071374906) She is also going to try to get Pimm to come and speak b/c she apparently knows him from her doctoral work or something.

*This Friday a candidate for the chemist position will be here giving a sample class at 11am and presenting his works at 4pm. His name is Charles Cantrell. His degree(s) is from LSU and he has been working in New Hampshire. Mrs. Jeanette said he is young, but married. Anyway, if you are in town and not too busy, stop by and at least talk with him.

*Mike: The books for African Philosophy are (1) The African Philosophy Reader (#0415189055) (2) Introduction to African Religion by John S. Mbiti (Hayden put the wrong ISBN on the book list, I have to correct one at home) and (3) Nervous Conditions (#1580050638)-I've already read this one, it was really good....feminist/post-colonial stuff.

*Oh, and Dr. C wants the forum council people to know that she wants the freshmen food fair to be on the Tuesday while people don't yet have their meal plans. Makes sense.

Anyway, one week left of work...and then, on Saturday, the big 2-0! Katy will no longer be a teenager!!! Happy Birthday also to Seth, Stacie, Jeff and I know I'm forgetting someone, and a very happy un-birthday to everyone else!
