Dr. Wily stood with Sigma at his side. A small gathering of his top Maverick security officers stood at attention. It was a large room. The central command station for the moon base provided a breathtaking view of Earth. Joining the party, and being held in magnetic fields, were the Maverick Hunter Blade Runner, and his former partner Ryujin X. RX had been forced to cooperate, and come along "nicely." Although he was seething with anger, and breathing threat and murder, he obeyed, and allowed himself to be captured. He of course knew that the right moment would come for him. He could escape any time he wanted to, and Sigma knew that. That is why he watched RX with a keen eye.
But, as the nearly completed Sigma kept his eyes open, Dr. Wily began to speak.
"We are at an advantage with a view like this. Surely, even now our enemies are massing against us. We are going to fight a bloody battle. It is going to make things difficult."
Sigma turned to him, "I have fought in many battles. All of them are difficult. Yet, each time I fought I was strong. I do not wish to have any part in this battle if I am not completed."
Wily cackled with an evil tone. "Patience my friend. Soon I will give you the power you deserve." Sigma looked at him this time. "What of the reports on your creation? Will my plan succeed?", Sigma asked.
"You offer up a high cost Sigma. The lives of many will be lost in order to prove the experiment successful."
"Do you think I care for the humans, or the Reploids?"
"What good is a dead world? How can you hope to accoplish your objectives? No one to rule over? Is that what you want?", Wily asked him.
"I will do what ever I deem neccesary in order to unlock Zero's true power. I know his secret!"
"Yes. So do I. But tread lightly with such knowledge. It may come back to haunt you in the end."
Sigma laughed. "Do not try to scare me old man. I am quite capable of handling Zero."
"Oh, so that's why I had to rebuild you?"
Sigma scowled. "You never saw what happened when I found him! It was just the two of us, alone....in an underground mining facility. We fought hard, but in the end...I prevailed." Wily laughed. "So THAT was how you got your pleasant disposition?"
"What do you mean?", Sigma asked.
"He gave you the virus...it bonded to you. You made it perfect, that is why it is called the Sigma Virus. It has made you powerful."
"It can make him powerful! It can release his true power!"
"Is your servant ready to start the process yet?", Wily asked.
"No. There's been a complication. There have been reports that the Maverick Hunter's have occupied the Eurasia colony. We cannot begin until we have confirmation of their evacuation.", Sigma answered.
"Why not start it now?", Wily asked.
"No. It is too early. Besides, you still have Doppler and the Hunters to deal with. I will deal with Zero on my own time."
"Very well,",Wily answered, "Then we begin our preperations for battle!" (to be continued)
