The water craft being piloted by the Maverick Hunters were small, two man vehicles. They were solid blue, with black tinted windows, and heavy shielding. They were also needle shaped for use under water. Once launched from the torpedo tubes, they would jettison the external casing, and float to the surface. Then, they would be very different vehicles indeed. They would change in shape to hydrofoils, which would skim the surface of the water at top speeds. The extra casing left behind was mounted with explosives, and would serve as a proximity mine field.
X and his rowdy 17th unit got the go ahead from the boys on the other side. X turned to IO, and said, "Ok. Everyone's in place. Now we strike."
"What are you planning to do?", IO asked.
"Well, the way I figure it, they're expecting a torpedo strike."
"Yeah?"
"So, we'll give them a torpedo strike!" ,He smirked. X got on the secure channel to his team. "Listen up boys, transfer to module 2, and arm the self destruct. Set timer for three minutes. That should give you plenty of time to get off, and just enough for the package to be delivered."
"What's our target boss?", one of the boys asked.
"We're going for that retaining wall over there. Point three seven one." X turned to IO, and said, "Follow me."
X pressed a button sequence on the dash board. "Target, and course confirmed. Detination time set.",he announced. He turned a switch, and the cockpit dome opened up. he motioned for IO to follow him as he climbed out of the hydrofoil to the back. He could see the other ships around him. He watched as his team triggered the hatch release switches.
Panels flew off on both sides of the Hydrofoil. IO watched as X got onto a concealed Ride Chaser. IO looked at him with confusion, and awe. X smiled, "Jet bike! Hop on, we don't have much time." IO nodded, and got onto the bike. He looked over at X, who reassured him. "Start it up first, then press the release switch. Don't worry kid, this is the fun part!"
The bike started, and X broke away from the hydrofoil with a jolt. IO followed suit, but almost got thrown off as he seperated. He managed to keep in under control though. The rest of the boys in the Unit managed to break away, and they stopped to watch as the shells of the water craft headed for their target. One of the Hunters called out. "Impact in ten seconds....five, four, three...shield your optics!"
Fifteen watercraft, all armed with a self destruct device hit the retaining wall with a sickening thud. Simultaneously, each of the timers ticked down to zero. The result was a chain explosion which engulfed the contact point. The explosion was so bright that anyone, man or Reploid would have been immediately blinded. A fireball mushromed out of the epicenter, and the retaining wall had been destroyed. Debris floated in the water, along with burning pockets of fuel. Vegetation had also gone up, spreading to every tree, and plant. The sand had melted, and fused into cracked green glass. The Hunters had made their mark. But they had only just begun.
