(This will be the final part of the "Crossing Paths" Saga...)
The twin doors opened, and Sonic Blade, and Zero stepped into the Shuttle bay. One thing that was different, was that instead of being on the ground level, they had gone up to the second level. They ran along the catwalk to the closest set of stairs, which would take them down. All they had to do was find a way to open the hangar doors, steal a shuttle, and they'd be home free. But, one thing tugged at Zero's mind...Where was RX?
As this question entered his mind, the answer came..all too suddenly. There was a flurry of activity on the ground level. Three shuttles had been parked in the center of the hangar, spaced eaqually apart. Around each of them were a few security personel, and technicians. Zero had no idea about how they were going to make it past all of them,, without hurting the innocent. Much to his surprise, they were not all innocent. These Reploid technicians were armed too, it seemed, and they each began to open fire! But, they were not aiming at Zero, or Sonic Blade. In fact, it appeared as if they didn't even see them. Instead all of them were turned to face a lone Reploid who had appeared out one of the side hatches.
"I don't believe it!" Zero gasped. "It's him!"
RX appeared out of the hatch. It looked like he was carrying someone on his shoulders. Could that be Blade Runner? Zero could not tell, but it seemed as if he had been hurt very badly. Did RX do it to him? Zero could not be sure. "Get down, now!" Zero told Sonic Blade. But Blade didn't even wait for Zero, already crouching behind the walkway's outter wall. "What's he doing here?", Sonic Blade asked.
"You said it yourself, remember? It looks like he's trying to escape.", Zero replied.
"So, do we confront him?",Blade asked.
"Not yet, let's see what he does first...just make sure he doesn't get onto any of those shuttles. I don't want him to escape before I've had a chance to talk to him."
"Are you going to talk to him, or kill him?", Sonic Blade asked. But, Zero did not answer.
Meanwhile, RX had set BR down behind a stack of metal drums filled with coolant. It looked as if he had stolen some of the local weaponry, because in each hand he held plasma assault rifels. He open fired on the crowd of hostiles, trying to clear a path to the shuttle. Some fell, but other dodged the assault, and returned fire from their own weapons. The fire fight seemed to last for a long time, RX was pinned down in his fall back position, behind a giant pillar, but he managed to hold his own.
"He's not going to last very long down there!", Sonic Blade told Zero. "I know...", Zero replied with a devilish grin.
"Dammit Zero! How the hell do you expect to question him if he's dead?", Sonic Blade asked. Zero was about to say something, but the look he got from Blade spoke of the rhetorical nature of the question. It was really just food for thought. Yet, Zero grew irritated at this junior Reploid giving HIM advice! Sonic blade leapt over the railing, and landed on the floor with a thud. The high fall hurt him, but he tried not to show it in his pride. His Sonic Blade attack took down one of the gaurds, and he very quickly went to work on another. It didn't take long for the gaurds to reallize this new threat, and some of them turned from RX to focus on the distraction. Before he was even prepared to face them, a crossfire hail of plasma bolts burned the air around Sonic blade. He was fast, but not fast enough! Streaks of light flashed against his armor. He fell to the ground with a weak cry, and did not move. Zero could not tell if he was dead, orjust unconscious. The distraction had helped RX some, but it looked like there were still ten Security Reps shooting at him. The other seven had their backs turned to RX, searching for anyone else who wanted to play "hero."
Zero leaped into the air, and then in seemed as if in mid air, jumped again. His saber flashed out, and quickly froze over. He descended to the ground, driving the icy pike into the closest of his opponents. The technique he picked up from Frost Wallrus had come in handy. THen he dashed forward, and spun around. His blade whirled around, and changed to a pinkish glow. Mimicking the attack Slash Beast once used, he sliced two more of the gaurds in half. As he came around the blade's pinkish color soon turned white hot, and then cooled to a blue color, as it stabbed into not one, but two of the gaurds, staning close together. Electricity flowed from his blade courtesy of Web Spider, into the bodies of his opponents. Tucking his saber away, he fired a volley from his arm cannon, cutting down a few more gaurds.
The final blow came as hid fist struck the ground. A thunder wave of projectiles spread in a beautiful pattern. Zero was reminded of Cyber Peacock, the original owner of this weapon. X had given that one to him after the fall of the Repliforce. The remainder of the gaurds went down. Now, the hangar bay was empty. "Damn rookies. Always charging into things." Zero leaned over to check Sonic blade, but he was not moving. Could he be dead? Just then, he head someone stirring behind some coolant drums.
"RX! Show yourself!", Zero demanded. RX stepped out from behind the coolant drums carrying BR on his shoulder. The plasma weapons lay on the floor, at his feet....depleted.
"What do you want with me Zero?", He asked. "We've got to get the HELL out of here...right now!"
"First you're going to answer some of my questions..."
