Subject: PieBald Daschunds?

I had never heard of a Pie-Bald color in the Mini Doxie Breed. Is this a sign of anything bad?????? I am wondering if this is a real color for this breed of pup.
I would really appreciate any info anyone can give me, I am interested in a piebald puppy but want to know if it /could be bred with something else to get the white / tan color.
