The Skinner/Mrs. Scully matchup is popular in fanfic.
Here's another matchup that I think would have made more sense than what CC actually gave us: if there was any hanky-panky going on among the elder members of the Spender/Mulder familes back in the 1960s, the affair was probably between William Mulder and Cassandra Spender, rather than between Tina Mulder and CBG Spender. I base this on the fact that Cassandra seemed to be at least ten years younger than Tina; generally speaking, if a man is going to cheat on his wife, he will do it with a woman who is *younger* than she is, not one who is older.
