In reply to: Misterio 's message, "I'm worried about GA's writing and directing an XF ep." on 18:06:09 02/28/00 Mon

I think it would have really helped GA if she'd had a woman with experience to help her W&D her ep (especially since Kim did a great job directing "Theef"). But, like all of you said, she'll probably get help from the other producers of the show so she won't be dead in the water.

There is still another thing that worries me and that's the fact that the ep's subject seems kind of boring. I read it will be about Scully's trouble dealing with being an FBI agent and a doctor at the same time, seems kind of bland. I thought that with the combined help of an experienced woman producer and director, that I thought Kim was, and her extensive knowledge of Scully's character, she could make such a boring looking subject work, but now that I know that she'll go at it alone, the somewhat alleviated worries I had have resurfaced with just a little more strenght. Can you ladies please make the pain go away again? :-( (sad puppy face)

I do watch ER SMH, but I'm still not clear on which episode you're refering to, could you give me more hints? (It would really help ease the pain :-( ) Hey! Laura Innes kind of has red hair right? Maybe it's a sign that redheaded women directors do well! :-) As for the WBD's ep, we won't have to wait long to see how well or poorly he did since it's this sunday's ep.

You are right devlin when you say that GA has an edge over other potential writers, because she does know Scully better than anyone else. But I still think that a good story needs a little more than that. Picking the right situations in which to put your characters in is also very important IMO. Chinga was a so so ep IMO, it wasn't great, but it also wasn't bad, it had the creepy elements of a good SK story, but what I think killed the ep was the fact that M and S weren't together. It would have been great if they had been.

Where have I been you ask det? Around, just not close enough to a computer to be able to come on this forum. It's a shame too since I love it here. It has a quality that I so loved about the Proxicom forum. You can have nice and quiet discussions here, on the new XF site, it feels like being in a stadium full of people talking all at the same time and I find it very distracting. If I close my eyes and concentrate long enough, I can hear the buzzing from here. :-) I also missed out on the sweet little nicknames you used to give me: Neanderthal, a Brittney Spears listenin' X-Phile with no credibility and my favorite: Oldman Misterio! Aaaah the good ol' days. ;-)

Misterio

P.S. I was thinking Batgirl, if GA finds the situation of Scully being a doctor and an agent at the same time special enough to make a whole episode about it, wouldn't that mean a special pay for Scully, perhaps higher than Mulder's... ;-)

P.P.S. When you finish seeing WBD's ep this sunday, could you gals tell me if you think GA will do better? Thanks :-)
