LOL! There's actually been a lot of debate as to whether Bill Junior or Melissa is older. Like you, I always thought Bill Junior was the oldest, but a fanfic friend of mine *swears* she read in some official source that Melissa was was the oldest. We do know that they're both older than Dana. It's possible they could have been twins, I suppose.
Maggie Scully could very well have been pregnant when she got married. Contrary to what a lot of younger folks seem to think, pre-maritial sex *did* occur back in the 1960s. I think the big difference was that if it resulted in a pregnancy, everybody expected the couple to get married immediately, whereas nowadays very few people expect that.
I'm actually more inclined to think this date mix-up was simply a boo-boo on the part of the XF staff. Melissa didn't really seem to exist in season one; at that time Scully only mentioned having "an older brother and a younger brother", she didn't specifically *say* she didn't have any sisters, but it was sort of implied. Although why, when they introduced Melissa into the show, they didn't make her a bit younger than Dana rather than a bit older, I have no idea.
