I guess my feelings are a bit more mixed.
Yes, I loved "The X-Files" during its first seven seasons. Yes, I'm glad I "met" each and every one of you. I'm not the most computer-savvy person in the world, but my desire to "talk" about the X-Files, read XF fanfic, etc. was pretty much the catalyst that drove me to achieve whatever level of computer/internet skills I *do* have. And the whole web-fueled fanfic phenomenon has been a source of great pleasure and relief for me. (I've written fanfic for *years* but, until discovering it on the web, I honestly believed that making up stories about TV characters was a sign of mental illness or something. Finding out that this is a legitimate "hobby" -- no weirder than playing bridge or bird watching or whatever -- has made me a happier person.)
But, in common with many fans and critics, I believe they dragged the show out a season or two longer than they should have.
