taken right under the sign that says "J.Edgar Hoover FBI Building". It's part of what they use for the establishing shot, but if we'd gotten the whole building in the picture, my face would have been tiny.
Other than the FBI Building and White House (also closed to the public since 9/11) we saw most of the major D.C. sights. . .the Capitol, the Smithsonian, the Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson Monuments, the Vietnam Veterans Wall, etc. We also went to the National Zoo and saw the pandas. They were actually playing and stuff, which a zookeeper told us we were lucky to see; apparently most of the time they just sit around or sleep.
Williamsburg was also a *LOT* of fun. It was very interactive. We got to participate in many of the demonstrations.
Have you never been to the East Coast, det, or just not ever to Washington? I've never been to California.
