In a way, this is good news for me. I was about 98 percent certain that I was going to let the season eight season finale be the series finale as far as I was concerned, because it was so perfect. . .Mulder and Scully kissing while holding their baby in their arms. . .and just pick it back up if and when they ever do a second XF movie. But I knew that a two percent part of me would be tempted to tune in if there was a possibility of Mulder cameos; now I don't have that temptation.
Weird though this may sound from someone who isn't a big fan of Doggett and Reyes, I really hope they allow them to take center stage next season and let Scully assume sort of a supporting role, similar to that of Skinner. That way we can assume — especially if we get an occasional shot of her left hand sporting a wedding ring — that she and Mulder are happily married and the reason she never talks about him is because there's not much to say.
I *REALLY* wish they would go ahead and let GA out of her contract and just "save" Mulder and Scully for future XF movies, but that's not likely to happen. I pretty much agree with everything DD said. . .it just wasn't the same show last year as it was in seasons 1-7 and he and GA were asked to carry a two-character hour-long drama longer than any two actors in TV history!
