Subject: Saddest moments :(

I recently posted a question regarding the funniest moments of the series. Now I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the saddest moment for them. Of course, there are several for me, as I'm sure there are for all of you. Probably one of the saddest episodes on the whole- especially since becoming a mother- was the episode "William" from season 9. I still find it hard to this day understanding Scully's reasoning for giving her son up for adoption. Of course, there are the "logical" reasons... she could not protect him adequately, etc. Although, no offense intended, but mostly it felt like Chris Carter wanted to prepare for his next X-F movie (which we have yet to see!) and he wanted to tie up "loose ends". In other words, he didn't want Mulder and Scully having to take care of a baby during their next adventure. Well, in my opinion, it seemed like kind of a cop out or something. Couldn't they have sent the boy to live with her mom, or maybe that brother Charlie, no one ever sees? Anything was better than sending him off to strangers that she'll most likely never meet. Hopefully, CC will soften up by the time at least that the final movie is released and let them somehow get William back.

Of course, the whole "cancer arc" was sad, particularly season 4 when Scully finds out, but thankfully, that ends happily. And it was sad for Mulder to find that his sister had been dead all those years (season 7), but it was also kind of a relief, for him and the audience, I think. At least he/we found out finally.

Another episode that I found particularly sad- and yes, it's a shippy kind of thing, so if you're not into that, well...- is at the end of season 7 when Mulder disappears just as Scully finds out she's finally pregnant with their son. Of course, that was more Duchovny's fault than anyone else's, but it was our poor heroes that suffered for it. And perhaps that's the saddest point of all...
