Btw everyone there's another thread on the movie going on the Off Topic board. Please check that one out (http://www.voy.com/3051/) for more comments.

Well...I LOVED the Mulder and Scully bits, I really did. Like Stardoe says over in the other thread I was bemused, no wait, make tht flabbergasted to have CC actually acknowledge a romantic relationship between Mulder and Scully AND admit flat out that WIllam was their baby. Both of theirs! I was stunned! :-o Didn't that story end with thoughts of some X-Filian intervention rearding Scully's pregnancy? I can't remember all the William details either.

I agree BDM that we didn't get an x-File. Where the heck was the paranormal aspect? Crazy Russian doctors doing Frankenstein style experiemntation is not paranormal, it's just sick!
Like my sis brought up, and if you guys know anything about me at all, and you do, I HATED, HATED the stuff with the dogs. Why did they have to go there? The poor dog crying in the snow after Mulder had cut off one of his heads!? WTF!!!?

I'm really surprised DD would go along with this aspect of the story knowing what a dog lover he is. Really surprised.
And CC did NOT need to go there. I don't remember in all of the years of the series them ever going in this type of direction. Yeah, I'm fine with the gruesome stuff involving humans, but dogs, he crossed the line! :(

Well, as you can read, I'm really bothered by that part. It was like CC was trying to throw in an element of movies like "SAW" and other popular ultra violent fare of late.
But what bothered me more is that other than that I generally liked the picture and this aspect really tarnished it for me. It wasn't great and the first movie was much better but at least I was hoping I'd want to see it again and now I don't know if I can.

Loved seeing Skinner!!! I could have sworn I read awhile back that he was not going to be in this movie at all so it was a great surprise!

I liked the little touches in the beginning referencing what the fans all know about Mulder and Scully but I would like there to have been more inside references. I think they could have slipped more in without being too cultish. By comparison, I think the recent Get Smart movie had more in jokes to the original series.

In regards to the Mulder and Scully bits, at times I thought they were very natural together but at other times I thought the dialog was a bit overdone.

Bits I liked: Mulder's cell phone with the names Gilligan and Shiban listed and one other I missed...was it Spotnitz?

Skinner telling Scully that Mulder wouldn't do anything crazy and Scully giving him her "You've got to be kidding?!" look. :-D

The location shots. As BDM mentioned, the move to LA just wasn't right for this series so it was nice to have it back in Vancouver where it belongs.

I actually was fine with them not being married. As some one said here or on OT, it may have been to protect Mulder's wherabouts but they also mentioned that their differences had always prevented them from staying together. I got the impression that they had a 'we'll get together whenever' type of thing going but not like a constant living together type of thing. I thought that suited them well, actually.
Mainly because I don't think either of them have been involved with anyone else--that's just the way it is between them. But the white house with the picket fence ("Arcadia" anyone? ;) ) just wasn't for them.

I wish they'd carried the FBI agent's interest in Mulder a bit further. I would have loved a "hands off, he's mine!' glare from Scully.

I also was fine with them still calling each other by their last names. After all those years, that's how they know each other. Why would they change just because they got involved? Anything else but "Mulder" and "Scully" just wouldn't have sounded right out of their mouths.

I didn't read any of your reviews before I saw the movie but I did catch the note about staying until the very end. I most likely would have anyway but I appreciated the heads up! Most of the aprox. 30 people in our screening left early.
And just who WERE they waving at? Was it us or the helicopter trying to track them down, in which case they were giving it a cheeky, "yeah we know you're following us' acknowledgement.

Oh and also, I had to smile at Mulder and Scully early in the film being flown off in a 'black helicopter". Or am I just desperate for a mythology reference?

What I liked best of all was just seeing my dear old friends Mulder and Scully. And Skinner too! It was so nice to have them back. :)
