You have nailed my concern. We are somewhat insulated on this board but the X-Files is not the ratings giant it once was. People are falling away from the show and the answer is NOT new blood. It never has been! I can think of shows where a main cast member was replaced and the show went on, but I can't think of any where the show was stronger for the replacement. I also can't think of a show with only two central characters that survived replacing one of them. The simple truth is that Fox needs ratings points and this year the X-Files can deliver more reliably than an untried product. Next year the story may be radically changed and we may never see another X-Files movie.

That in a nutshell was why I objected to an Eighth Season when I read that DD didn't want to return. I knew that the movie franchise would be in trouble if the rating's numbers didn't improve. Several people who no longer watch the show told me they wished Bruce Campbell had gotten the role because they would have tuned back in to see him. But so far I have had no takers on RP.

who wonders if anyone else has tried to woo back EX-Philers and what/if any success they have had?
