I read in an article that the Geena Davis show producers started out by hiring the star and then writing the show. Seems sort of backwards to me--trying to write good material for a series is quite different from writing a movie with an actress/actor in mind. But then again, there are a lot of people who just want to be superficially entertained without having to do a lot of thinking. Pity they don't read a book instead!
