I thought this show was so funny and so cleverly done. One of my top 5 for Season 7. I was shocked when I went over to the Fox boards and so a major split decision on this with half the people saying it "sucked" and was the 'worst" etc. Huh? OK maybe it doesn't quite reach the high calibre of some of the other XF comedic eps but it was darn funny!

And although I'm not a regular Cops viewer by any means I have seen the show and this was right on the money. This is just how the show looks! People are alwayas joking about how every Cops episode has a scene with a guy in his underwear. They really did a great job making this look "real". Someone pointed out how the rest of the FBI would react when this episode aired. More things to joke about for poor Spooky and his sidekick Scully!

I loved all the stuff you guys mentioned. Steve and Edie were so funny especially when Edie started singing for the camera. And Scully's "The FBI has nothing to hide." Another thing I found really funny was Chanatra running in her heels with Mulder and Scully following her and saying "Don't run!"

And the camera got to catch a bit of Mulder's sweetness in action and how he deals with people when he talked to Chantara and kept her calm. Yes, and lets see how Scully would look in bubble gum pink! LOL

On the scene where Scully pointed out how anyone could havewcome to the conclusion Mulder had. I remember people noting that she was really sticking up for him. An example of her not wanting him to look foolish in front of others. I think she was concerned for both of them with the cameras running around. While Mulder loved the attetnion because he thought maybe it would give credence and TV evidence to the paranormal, Scully was more worried about the two of them looking like morons. Good charcterization for both. And perhaps Scully didn't like the cameras because it ws such an invasion of privacy of her and Mulder's world. She didn't like the intrusion when the two of them wanted to compare notes on the case. So I think there was some shippyness to this ep. -)
Also in the way that the camera saw them. Fom all appearances we see cops interracting like cops but a clos observer may notice that those two are partners who have ben working together for quite a long time. It was pretty obvious that they weren't just casual aquantances. Nothing romantic necessarily implied but the M&S partnership was evident.

I'm not trying to shippify this ep but I was a bit surprised by people who didn't see the closeness between M&S here and some who didn't like the ep because it wasn't shippy enough for them.
I also likd seeing them in a different element. It was a nice change from the standard set up of a MOTW case.

On a side note: I read just recently in an interview with DD that while he didn't seem to rave about this ep (maybe I should debate him about it!) he liked it soley for ther reason that everything was shot like on Cops and there weren't a lot of extra takes and cover shots like they normally do on XF which meant less work for him! He's such a complainer. tee hee ;-)
