According to what people have read at the fandom.com site (and I have no idea how credible that is), it would be a 20 episode season and DD would appear in 15 of the episodes.

Well whatever numbers they are coming up with it looks like this type of situation (shorter season with DD in less eps) is what they are going for. Lets hope it happens.

I feel sorry for GA though who's kind of stuck but I guess since she signed a contract there's nothing she can do. Maybe with her in a "starring" role though it will give her a chance to shine (not that she doesn't already!).

Note: The next bit is sort of a spoiler for the season finale according to something I read but I'll be vague......

I think the 'having Mulder gone for the first six eps' idea is what they would definately want according to something I read about the season finale. See, told you I was vague! ;-) ) It might be dangerous though. I think Fox is afraid with no Mulder in the beginning peopelwill be confused and think he's off the show and they will lose viewers and that could very well happen. Then again there would be a big build up for his return if Fox promotd it right. Lately they get an F for prmotion of the show though.

Btw has anyone else read the little blurb about XF in the new TV Guide? It says in part..."If David Duchovny RESUFES to return to the show next year..." Don't ya love how they try to lay all this on him?! Those idiots! He said he's willing to come back if they meet his demands and they try to paint a picture of themselves as the victim (Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox also owns TV Guide).
