Subject: MY IOWA TRAVELS AND TRIBULATIONS - Day 10 by Kande Rae

Well, it is finally over. The hardship, the suffering, the blisters and aching muscles all seem worthwhile when you, at long last, dip your front tire in the river.

The rootbeer at Shorty's Tavern was just as heady and refreshing as I remembered from my youth. After a late night of celebrating with the rest of "TEAM TOUGH BUTTS", SO and I relaxed in our tent under the Iowa stars. There is just nothing like an Iowa sky in the Summertime. It is so peaceful and quiet here and the only danger is the occasional "Mosquito Hawk" dropping a present on your forehead or a crazed stick-toting Possum savaging your toes.

First thing tomorrow I am booked into the local Spa for a mud facial and a long soak in the hot tub. Sure it's kind of girly and silly but I figure I deserve a little pampering after such a long, hard trip. SO is going antiquing...I told her not to buy any of Sue & Sal's so-called "Original Shaker" furniture. Sal makes those boxes and chairs in his own barn and the only time he SHAKES is after a serious weekend at Shorty's Tavern.

Anyway, it's been fun sharing my travels with you on the web. I may post again on the trip home to Shipperville but as of this moment I am ready to bring this Journey Across the American Heartland to a close.

Rabid
who is really hoping that Kande posts one or two more times as I have enjoyed the adventure.
