My impression was that Doggett first had to resolve his emotions with the death of his son. He also had to figure out what his job was and also become a believer. He didn't believe in the paranormal--calling it hocus pocus, etc. However he did finally acknowledge that these things did happen. Unfortunately we didn't get to see a whole lot of the Dogget and Reyes thing as there wasn't a whole lot of time left before the show ended.

I think he and Reyes could have gotten something going, but in the short amount of time they had together, there wasn't enough time to develop any sort of relationship.
