"She's at it again" he said softly as he summarized her latest escapades. "I know she's watching--probably thinks I'm with the mob which is just fine. What she doesn't know won't kill her."
"Pun intended?" asked the voice on the other end of the phone.
"Probably" admitted the soft speaking man "one of these days something is going to backfire on her."
A pause in the conversation as both parties laughed. "She is so strong--where did we go wrong?" the invisible party on the other end of the phone conversation asked.
"I don't know--she is so talented--just a little twisted--she might be beyond salvaging" whispered the gentleman in the garden. "I will keep you informed."
Closing the phone, the pair watched KS back down from her perch in the tree, climb on her bike and head back to the Klub. As they watched her go in silence, the dogs came running over to the pair of watchers. As they looked down at the dogs, the froze in their tracks. One of them, the Great Dane-Pitbull cross was chewing on a strange object. "Give it here JJ" commanded CW "Drop!"
JJ tipped her head sideways and looked at CW who stood with her hand stretched out toward her. The smaller dog, KC sensed that JJ needed to be distracted and nipped playfully at JJ's back legs. Whirling around, JJ dropped the object she was chewing on and started to chase KC around the yard.
"What on earth is this?"CW exclaimed as she quickly retrieved the now somewhat chewed and much drooled on object. Turning it over in her hands she started to laugh.
"What is it?" asked the soft spoken man as he stared at it.
"It's one of KS's bugging devices that she put inside a rubber chicken. Two bites and it's toast if JJ gets her teeth on it" said CW. Laughing, they dismantled the device, smashed the receiver and transmitter and began to sweep the rest of the yard and house for more bugs.
