Subject: KS starts the birthday preparations

Humming to herself, KS starts to make a list of things to purchase for Kande's birthday.

"Let's see, we need a cake, ice cream, candles, some kind of present, streamers, horns, little pointy hats, and security measures," KS muses out loud.

The Mayor comes up behind her. "Security measures? What for?" The Mayor glances around the Klub. KS has seated herself at the farthest table from the bar, where Kande is still attending to Bubba. Bubba has stretched himself on his side on top of the bar and is sipping from a chocolate milkshake. Kande is sweating over an ice cream maker as she cranks the handle and swears. The Mayor slips her sweater over the back of a chair and sits down next to KS to peer at the list. "What are you planning?"

KS looks at her. "You remember, Kande's birthday is this Sunday?"

"Oh yeah, right," the Mayor mumbles absent-mindedly. "Guess I should go shopping for a present."

KS slaps her forehead. "Well duh, of course!" She adds balloons to her list.

"So remind me again...why are you needing security measures for Kande's party? She's going to be 41, it should be a fairly sedate affair."

KS leans close to the Mayor, after looking around to make sure nobody's listening. Everyone else in the Klub is either intent on their dinner or watching Kande massage Bubba's shoulders. "The head of the Mob in Shipperville is coming."

"Really? Bob's coming to the party?" The Mayor sits up and pats her hair. "He's single, right?"

KS shrugs and bends down over her list. "Who cares? He'll be dead when I get done with him."

The Mayor tsks. "You can't kill Bob. He travels with an entourage. What makes you think he's coming to the party anyway?"

KS holds up a handful of invitations. "I invited him, of course. I saw him talking with CW and came up with the usual deduction: he's out to get me."

The Mayor puts her head in her hands. "You are so paranoid. That wasn't Bob she was talking to."

"Then who was it?"
