While B3 makes a helpless gesture at the remains of Ivy.

"Oh, you have GOT to be kidding!" Kande gasps.

-Matched Set-Bubba 3 says using the internationally approved Intergalactic Alien Symbol Language (frequently seen on copiers and roadsigns). Neon colored lines and curves flash on his forehead.

"What do you mean triangle, hyphen, squash blossom?" Kande says. She looks around wildly and her eyes fall on B3's copy of the Alien Immigrant's Decoder Manual. She tugs it out of the wastebasket and begins leafing through pages. "That wasn't on the competency exam for Host Families. I passed the competency exam with top marks, you know. The instructor said he had never seen anything like my final essay." She ruffles through the manual a bit more. "Look, help me out here. Would it be under house pets or parties?"

The Bubbas flash a few more symbols at each other and snicker again. Kande tries in vain to follow the red, green and yellow images on the two alien's foreheads as they communicate.

"Clothes pin, goose egg, monkey tail, upside down picnic table?" Kande guesses. "Uhm...okay...okay...the picnic table is the symbol for Mating...oh...ick..." She casts a horrified look at the furry pot holder. "Don't even tell me that's NOT a pot holder!"

Bubba One immediately sets Kande's mind at ease by using the furry mitt to pick up the whistling tea kettle.

-One lump or two- Bubba asks the Klub owner after he pours a cuppa for her.

"Ah...uhm..." Kande says, biting her lip as she takes a stab at her own symbols. "Okay...picnic table, rice cake...trapazoid."

-TRAPAZOID- Both Bubba's light up at the same time in shocked coloration.

"Er...I mean...rhombus...RHOMBUS...rigatoni?"

B3 drops into a helpless fit of giggles as B1 reaches out and after gently lifting the manual from Kande's hands turns it right side up and returns it to her.

"Oh, yes...well...that IS better...So, it's a Matched Pair of Cat Fur Pot Holders? I got it. Still...I think I will just replace someone else's card with my own."

B1 nods his agreement and Kande heads for the door muttering to herself, "I wonder what Rabid is getting KM..." She pauses and says as if in afterthought, "And put that cat back where you found it when you're done...have some respect for my poor Sis' grief for pity's sake."

Meanwhile back in the Klub, KM is showing off her cap and gown twirling this way and that and the Dancing Dana's routine has dissolved into a free-for-all brawl over who's turn it is to wear the black arm band. In the corner booth, KS sobs softly as she field strips her AK-47 assault weapon in preparation for her trip to Hollywood.

So sorry about your kitty KS...feeling your pain even as I work with the storyline in front of me...on the other hand exploring this altered reality makes it clear to us all that Ivy is in a much better place...
