Subject: The MSR sets the standard!

This was from an article about JAG on the website for "Slate" (internet magazine). The writer seemed to have a love/hate relationship with "JAG" which, IMHO, is a pretty good show although not in the same league as "The X-Files".
The reason I'm posting it here is that I think it's interesting that the Mulder/Scully relationship has apparently become the touchstone by which all future TV romances will be measured. I've got to kind of feel sorry for CC. . .he set out to create a "scary" TV show, but I have the feeling that 20 years from now XF will be remembered not so much for its monsters and conspiracies as for giving the world the most famous pair of starcrossed fictional lovers since "Romeo and Juliet".

Harm and Mac are meant to have a smoldering Scully-Mulder chemistry but the show is flaky on this matter. Episodes pass with little in the script or the performances to suggest that Harm and Mac are flirting; then, all of a sudden, they're kissing, then promptly forgetting about it. The men of action at JAG headquarters seem bored with the TV convention of long foreplay, so they invent gimmicks to sate viewer lust while nominally preserving the Harm-Mac tension.
