Thats what I remember eating that was not only delicious, but it was interesting that in some beach towns they sold them on a stick from a street vendor.

Also your steak sandwich's were very different. Here a steak sandwich consists of a little steak and a thick chunk of garlic toast. You eat it by cutting a peice of the toast then a peice of the steak and shovelling it in your mouth with your fork. When we were their we ordered a steak sandwich and it was a thin steak, between two peices of regular bread with lettuce, tomatoes and pickled beets. It all came wrapped in wax paper to be eaten with your hands. It was tasty, I think your version suits the name better. A sandwich is a sandwich after all!

kenamom, butting in with her two cents worth.
