Have you narrowed your thesis? I would start with the ratings, look at the percentage of what age group began watching. I think it was the 20 to 35 yr olds wasn't it. Write a bit about socio-economic circumstance and why the XFiles would be so attractive to their needs.

Then maybe, take a few actual storylines and compare them to life situations.

Wouldn't make a good paper unless there is a discussion of the timing of the show and the emergence of the internet as a standard home service.

I could go on forever but I have my own paper to write, what do you know about Israel and their deterrence policy?
