is how I distinguish stories on television from real life or news reports (although some of those could be "make believe" too, as unbelievable as some of them seem to be.)

I do think that many of the stories we see on television are inspired somehow by real life experiences but as they say at the end of a lot of movies, (paraphrased of course) "the show you have just seen is not real and the characters in it are not meant to represent real people."

Now the road to love in Mulder's and Scully's story is one that can happen to a lot of people, (sigh) but the adventures M and S have had together, I suspect, would scare a lot of people.
