Subject: Who is Krycek?

I mean, what was his deal in the beginning? When he joined the FBI was he already under CSM's thumb? Did they go after him when he was in the Academy or even before that? Why did they choose Krycek or did he approach them? Was he bad when he first came to them or was he a decent guy they had some hold over him like threatening family members? Or did they just pay him a lot of money?
Anyone have any theories?
