Roxanne, I know shipping costs. I ship internationally, plus in my recent job that was sold out from under us, I was the shipping clerk, shipping all over the world as well. There are ways to ship cheaply, and I know all those angles. Plus, from the look of it, the label on your shirt might read Gildan, or a similar product, which I admit is a very good quality shirt, but I get them at $2.35 each, and thats when I buy single shirts. In bulk the price goes significantly down, as it does when you buy white Ts. Black and dark colors are higher. Through my wholesaler, I have access to any shirt style you might ever want, from mens boxy Ts to fitted scoop neck ladies Ts. Colors are phenomenal. I might add, just FYI, that your yellow shirt turns your Moroccan blue to green, nothing that can be done about that unless you use a thicker transfer decal with the opaque white sheet built in. same thing will happen with the DTG process unless you opt for the blocking solution/white underlay process prior to printing. Far as shipping envelopes, surely you have places in England that sell shipping supplies in bulk, thus lowering costs enormously.
Im not trying to be a bitch here, but I do know this business, Ive been doing it since the 70s, and have researched and priced and calculated till my head spun. There are no get rich quick plans in the imprinting industry unless you have a silkscreen operation selling incredible volume! I do it as a side business to a regular job, the only thing really for a one of a kind operation like mine.
As far as the shirts themselves, I hope you are not using a rib knit for your tank top, for the ribs will pull and your decal will crack. Finding a smooth surface is tantamount to this process. You want to put out a professional product, yet you state on your site that you are using the "latest in iron on technology." That means you are using a thin, for light colored fabrics transfer decal. Perhaps you misunderstood my use of the word decal. Trust me, that technology has gone by the wayside. Try to find someone who owns a Brother direct to garment printer, its the only way to go anymore. Yes, it will add some to your costs due to having to pay your jobber, but you can find ways to cut costs in other areas.
I dont want to take on your project. Its yours, but as a professional, I simply want to see the best product possible, with happy customers. Ill help with information as much as I can, but thats all.
And honestly, how much did you say Amanda's shirts go for?? Whyever would anyone pay that much for dear old Amanda on a shirt? I had her hands on my boobs in 1968.
