I think it depended on the country you were in when it came to dressing for dinner. Your social status also dictated if that was necessary. I think that England and France were big into that sort of thing. The "upper crust" in the US also did that sort of thing up through the first half of the 20th century but I think WWII took care of a lot of this. It seems like a nice custom if you have the money for it--frankly if the fashion industry depended on me, they would have gone out of business along time ago.

I think that having no electricity in Revolution means that folks can't use their facebook, twitter, etc. which I think would really drive a huge number of people crazy...it could lead to major behavioral problems. Civilized social skills now are grossly lacking in far too many people. The language that I hear in casual conversations is far too often appalling. Nothing civilized about some of the behaviors we see on tv. Hopefully the "reality" show folks are putting on a show but I doubt it.

What bothers me is that there are a lot of poor folks who are just as civilized as the wealthy. So if this show follows a family who has "everything" I might be quite disappointed with it.
