Tina Louise at the time was under the impression that she would be the lead in the show.When it turned out she wasnt she still did the series.She did distance herself from the show afterward but as far back as the early 90s she had softened quite a bit and was indeed on the only reunion appearance that included all 7 castways. It was on a short lived late night talk show on Fox. My sister worked for the local Fox station at the time and we got tickets to sit in the front row for the show!
A very fun night and all 7 actors were in great spirits.
I remember the show from reruns too. I would watch it every day after school. I've probably seen every episode at least 50 times. I know critics jumped all over it calling it insipid and worse.
Recently because of the passing of Russell Johnson which is why I put this picture up, I've watched a few episodes on TVLand and it still makes me laugh, esp. The Skipper my favorite.
After Johnsons passing both Dawn Wells and Tina Louise had nice comments about him
I've seen reruns of Dobie Gillis too but not til years after I'd seen Gilligan.
