As I recall there was a quick outreach to Baron, without the traditional search process of committee interviews, etc. Is my recollection wrong?

Yes. Certainly Baron was the top choice but that doesn't mean it was rushed. I know that Jayson Gee, Bob Walsh, Anthony Evans, Fred Dupree all interviewed and there was a level of interest in Steve DeMeo among others.

That's only because Baron resigned in mid-May. Not many options at that point and they had to act fast. How was Baron anointed?
