Re: Job Posting -- Griff, Tue, March 19 2024, 16:56:04
Not according to the interview he did with the Buffalo News -
Maher said the search for a new coach will involve university president Steve Stoute but that Canisius will not use a search firm to assist in the process.

It's good that President Steve is involved, but not so good the previously mentioned increase in salary apparently is not on the table. Anyone know who else is on the Selection Committee? The A.D., of course, but---?

Have to believe the decision will be made ultimately by President Steve or at least with his major input, I don't think it will be any committee decision, assume they are fielding a lot of inquiries and phone calls even with the minimal division 1 salary offering, it is still a lot of money to someone not making big bucks, also would not be surprised if John Beilein might be making calls on behalf of son Patrick , also wonder about former St Joe's coach Martinelli, lots off interesting discussions taking place I would guess behind closed doors.

With essentially the entire team in the transfer portal, it would seem ,for whatever reason, they liked playing for RW!

You might be right about President Steve, given his unique background. I hope you're right about Coach John and CU gets a call and sits down with Patrick ASAP.

Re: Job Posting -- Siena is now looking for a coach., Wed, March 20 2024, 15:41:49
Having them in the mix isn’t great. They will be throwing lots of cash around.

Siena supposedly owes Carmen $800,000 for the next two years on his contract. We owe Reggie nada.

Re: Job Posting -- Buffalo Super Fan, Wed, March 20 2024, 11:18:07
Canisius is going to have a hard time just like the UB Bulls basketball team had last season. The salary is way too low and the jobs security is risky because of the heavy lift the men’s basketball program is today. Because of the high school gym KAC with no renovations on the drawing board nor any desire of Canisius University to move back to Key Bank Center makes this not a good head coaching job to take for your first head coaching job. You only get one chance and I doubt many are going to want to risk that one coaching opportunity with the Griffs basketball job.
The Canisius University President involved is terrifying he knows as much about basketball as the UB President that meets with the candidate and basically rubber stamps the decision. I would expect that would be the same here at Canisius University. Canisius University President needs to focus on keeping enrollment up and stay in his lane. If I was the Canisius AD I would tell him exactly that let the sports people take care of the process. Let us do our job I don’t give you advice on increasing enrollment don’t try and do our job. But I forgot it’s Canisius no one has a clue or a backbone to speak up and make Griffs basketball relevant again. 20 years of garbage and counting with no end in sight. What a joke and a waste of time. St Bonaventure Bonnies Unfurled is raising $150,000 for NIL for the Bonnies basketball to give Mark Schmidt to buy more Bonnies basketball players and the Griffs basketball is amateur hour. Drop the basketball program to Division 2 if you are going to continue to run it like this.
As a Canisius College alum and a former Griffs basketball manager it breaks my heart seeing this farce. Unfortunately Griffs basketball is too far gone neglected for far too long and the availability to raise money at Canisius like St Bonaventure isn’t there just like it isn’t there at Niagara University either both basketball programs are far to gone from years of neglect and do nothing incompetent people in charge in the athletics department at both these schools in my opinion. Go Griffs! Let’s Go Buffalo

A bad coach named Reggie last eight years, the last six in which he did absolutely nothing. I'd say job security at CU isn't a concern.
Our president was a D1 athlete. UB's wasn't. I'd say ours is far more qualified to be involved in a coaching search than theirs.
