Subject: WBB Candidates?

Has anyone heard anything regarding potential candidates for our Women’s basketball search? I think one name that should be seriously looked at is Joe Rutigliano. Canisius alum, and has worked his way up to be an assistant at St John’s. Would love to see a young, former Griff come home! Other names with local ties that intrigue me are Nick Moore, Jacey Brooks, and Megan Shoniker. Thoughts?

Rutigliano would be an excellent hire. Here’s a guy who LOVES Canisius. He ran for Student Body President during his undergrad, was the president of CBlock and was in the Mr. Canisius pageant. He will bring energy to the program and PACK THE KAC like he did during the Baron years as a student leader. Experience in the Big East, Ivy and with national power Louisville. Well connected in the industry. I love this idea.

Lisa Liotta is beginning the process while Bill Maher finalizes the men’s search. I see them going after a D1 assistant.

Sahar’s shoes will be tough to fill. She was loved & respected by everyone.

Go Griffs!

Either Megan Shoniker or Jacey Brooks would be a great hire. Whoever comes in will be starting from scratch as 6 players are in the portal https://www.thenexthoops.com/features/2023-24-transfer-portal-tracker-ncaa-womens-basketball/ (McCauley, Thrash, Amalia, Lexa, Aleppo, and Chard-Peloquin) and Heeps and Rozzi have used all of their eligibility. Curious what the position pays. Know Providence pays over $400,000 for their WBB head coach. Have to believe Shoniker is making decent money as associate at Rhode Island

Brooks and Shoniker would be great hires, I concur. Binghamton is also looking for a women's head coach so I would guess Shoniker would be a candidate there as well. Nick Moore does have HC experience making him an intriguing choice. All three were assistants under Terry Zeh, curious if administration would care about that. As for Joe Rutigliano, he's young and is an alumnus but his readiness is in question despite having a solid resume.
